The Back Story or How We Got Here
For generations there have been vampires, werewolves, and other agents of darkness, but for as long as they have been around there have been slayers. One teenage male in the entire world destined to defend humanity from the various forces of darkness as they arise. The symbol of the Slayers is the Sword of the Slayer. It is the main weapon of the Slayers in their fight. Forged when the first Slayer was born it is a steel shape-shifting sword imbued with silver that can dispatch vampires or werewolves with equal ease. Also it has various incantations placed on the scabbard that give the Slayer more strength, speed, and healing ability. The down side is that there is an incantation that prevents a Slayer from not having the scabbard with them at all times. If the scabbard is not with the Slayer he experiences immense pain that doubles him over leaving him unable to function. This failsafe was designed to keep forgetful Slayers from taking just there crosses, Holy Water, stakes, and silver objects. While these items are well and good, and effective, they are not as all-purpose effective as the sword. It is passed from one Slayer to the next through a simple incantation that causes it to leave the previous Slayer when he is about to die or retire to keep it out of the hands of his enemies.
An organization that has been around as long as the Slayers is the Guardians. Their mission is to train the Slayers and make sure that they don’t get themselves killed. Also they monitor different children to see if they may become the next slayer, for when the next Slayer is given the Sword of the Slayer they need to be trained immediately so that they do not lose the Sword or get killed immediately. Also they need to be educated about what they are fighting, so they can make a decision on the fly and dispatch their enemy with ease.
Together this two organizations form the only line of defense that humanity has against the forces of darkness. If it weren’t for these organizations humanity would be at the mercy of the Vampires, the dominant species.
The Vampires have been the dominant force in the fight against humanity since the beginning. The main reason for that is their ability to blend in at night when they roam. The typical poor light at night masks their somewhat pale skin and their general appearance is similar to humans.
