Chronicles of the Slayer: Dawn of the Slayer, Chapter One

Chapter One
“Is it morning already?” thought Nick. “It feels like I just went to sleep.”
Nick rose slowly from his bed. He was 5’8” and 185 pounds with broad shoulders and long arms and torso and shorter legs. He had just been awakened by his clock radio and he moved to turn down the volume to a reasonable level. He then went and woke his brother Zack up and got started on getting ready for school. He fed both of the dogs and started making his own breakfast.
Nick finished making his breakfast and sat down at his computer. He had the internet opened to Facebook and Twitter. He finished his breakfast and got changed for school into a pair of jeans a t-shirt and put his faded Indian Jones Fedora on his Strawberry Blond hair.
After saying goodbye to his parents Nick got into his car and drove to his school in Carmichael, CA. Arriving at Sacramento Adventist Academy he walked from his car to his first class of the day. One of his friends came up to him and started talking.
“Hey Nick. How’s it going?” asked Lucas.
“Going well. You?” replied Nick.
“It’s going fine. You ready for Bible class?”
“Is anyone truly ready for dealing with Mrs. Rasmussen? Especially if you don’t agree with her?”
“You’ve got a point there.”
“Did we have any homework? I can’t remember.”
“Not that I remember.”
“Thanks”
“You’re welcome.”
With that they went to their seats in Bible class and Nick was forced to sit through a lesson on theology that he no longer agreed with. He had stopped believing in most Adventist doctrine after the eighth grade when his family started going to Bayside Church of Granite Bay. After that class the rest of the day flew by and he went back home. After arriving at his house he went to his room and started on his homework. He was going along when all of a sudden there was a bright flash and all of a sudden a sword was sitting on his bed. He screamed out in surprise which caused his dad to come to the room.
“What happened? Are you ok?” His Dad asked.
“Yeah, I’m fine there was a bright flash and that sword appeared on my bed!” Nick replied.
“Seriously?”
“Yeah. Seriously.”
“How did it get there?”
“If I knew the answer to that question I would be able to tell you wouldn’t I?”
Just then the doorbell rang interrupting their conversation. Nick stayed in his room while his dad, Mike, went to the door to see who it was. He opened the door and was greeted by a man in a sharp business suit and when he spoke he had an English accent.
“Hello Mr. Wilcox my name is John Cleese, and I believe you are going to want to know why I am here.” He said.
“That would be lovely.” Replied Mike.
“Well I believe that your son has recently come into possession of a sword.”
“Yes how did you know?” Mike said with a confused tone.
“It would be best if I came inside to explain.”
Cleese came in and Mike led him into the family room.
“It would be best if your wife and your son were here with us. Oh! And make sure your son has the sword with him.” Cleese said.
“Sure thing.” Mike replied. He went and got his wife, Teresa, and Nick. They all walked in and sat down on the sectional in the family room. After they were settled Cleese started his spiel on why his was there.
“I am a member of an organization called The Guardians. It is our job to teach and help young Slayers defeat Vampires and the other forces of darkness.” Started Cleese, “At any point in time there is one Slayer in the entire world. One male teenager destined to defend humanity from the Vampires and the other forces of darkness. It is his job to make sure the Vampires don’t overrun humanity.”
“And how am I supposed to do this?” asked Nick. “I’m only 18 years old. How am I expected to be able to save humanity?”
“Don’t you think this is a big responsibility for an 18 year old?” asked Teresa. “What if he fails?”
“It isn’t like we choose who the Slayer is going to be.” Replied Cleese. “The sword travels to whoever the next Slayer is. And if he fails all of humanity is enslaved and used as food for the Vampires and other dark races.”
“Other races?” Inquired Mike. “What are the other races?”
“We’ll get to those when we need to.” Replied Cleese.
“What if I don’t want to do it?” Nick Asked.
“There is an issue. You can’t walk away more than a few feet from the scabbard.” Cleese replied to stunned faces. “There is a failsafe incantation put in to keep the sword from being forgotten or stolen. See only the Slayer can have the sword out of the scabbard, so that the sword cannot be stolen.”
“What happens if I walk away from it?”
“You suffer immense pain.”
“Well then I guess that settles it.”
“Thank you Nick. The world will be indebted to you. And another thing no one can know what you are.”
“How am I supposed to explain the sword strapped to my back?”
“It can be shrunken down to fit in you backpack while at school.”
“Ok, when will I see you again?”
“Tomorrow, I am the new librarian at your school. If you have any questions you can find me in the Library.”
“Ok see you tomorrow.”
“Goodbye Nick.”
After that Cleese left the house leaving the family to contemplate their circumstances.

Chronicles of the Slayer: Dawn of the Slayer, Prologue

Prologue
The Slayer knew he was in trouble. The Vamps were closing in and he knew that the end was near. He had just one jar of Holy Water left, and the sword. He couldn’t use the Sword, so he mentally prepared the incantation to send it to the next Slayer. He had barricades set up on the entryways to the small room he was inhabiting as his defensive position. He could sense them coming and he knew they were waiting, biding their time before they would make there last rush into the room and destroy him. Then he heard it. The unmistakable sound of wood and stone cracking. The vampires were coming and they were breaking and they would be in any second.
Then it happened. The vampires burst through the barriers and rushed the Slayer. He threw his last jug of holy water and said the final incantation. The holy water hit the vampires head on ashing two of them. The issue was that there was many more than that coming through. They rushed him attempting to get the sword, but right when they got to him he said the incantation.
“NOOOOOOOOOOO!” cried Mansa. “Who was responsible for keeping him from speaking?”
“I was.” Said one of the vampires timidly.
Mansa’s hand was viciously fast. The other vampires were barely able to see it. The vampire was quickly grabbed by the throat and crushed.
“Let this be a lesson to the rest of you!” Screamed Mansa. “Failure is not an option. Anyone else that fails will be dealt a swift death.”
The other vampires slinked away afraid to do anything to incur the wrath of their boss. Mansa’s temper was well known, and nobody wanted to be on his bad side whenever he got into one of his moods. There was one vampire that stayed behind. His name was Skaarh. He was Mansa’s second in command and was the only able to calm him down from his moods.
“Did you really have to do that?” asked Skaarh, “He didn’t mean to let the slayer complete the incantation.”
“It doesn’t matter whether he meant to or not. The Master demands perfection and the sword. Without the sword his plan will not work.”
“Well if you keep killing the underlings there won’t be any vampires left and you will have done the Slayer’s job for him. There won’t be any vampires for him to kill.”
“That doesn’t matter, because of his failure we must find the new Slayer and kill him as well.”
“Very well let us go.”
With that the two vampires walked away from the Slayers body.

Chronicles of the Slayer: The Back Story or How We Got Here

The Back Story or How We Got Here

For generations there have been vampires, werewolves, and other agents of darkness, but for as long as they have been around there have been slayers. One teenage male in the entire world destined to defend humanity from the various forces of darkness as they arise. The symbol of the Slayers is the Sword of the Slayer. It is the main weapon of the Slayers in their fight. Forged when the first Slayer was born it is a steel shape-shifting sword imbued with silver that can dispatch vampires or werewolves with equal ease. Also it has various incantations placed on the scabbard that give the Slayer more strength, speed, and healing ability. The down side is that there is an incantation that prevents a Slayer from not having the scabbard with them at all times. If the scabbard is not with the Slayer he experiences immense pain that doubles him over leaving him unable to function. This failsafe was designed to keep forgetful Slayers from taking just there crosses, Holy Water, stakes, and silver objects. While these items are well and good, and effective, they are not as all-purpose effective as the sword. It is passed from one Slayer to the next through a simple incantation that causes it to leave the previous Slayer when he is about to die or retire to keep it out of the hands of his enemies.

An organization that has been around as long as the Slayers is the Guardians. Their mission is to train the Slayers and make sure that they don’t get themselves killed. Also they monitor different children to see if they may become the next slayer, for when the next Slayer is given the Sword of the Slayer they need to be trained immediately so that they do not lose the Sword or get killed immediately. Also they need to be educated about what they are fighting, so they can make a decision on the fly and dispatch their enemy with ease.

Together this two organizations form the only line of defense that humanity has against the forces of darkness. If it weren’t for these organizations humanity would be at the mercy of the Vampires, the dominant species.

The Vampires have been the dominant force in the fight against humanity since the beginning. The main reason for that is their ability to blend in at night when they roam. The typical poor light at night masks their somewhat pale skin and their general appearance is similar to humans.

Chronicles of the Slayer: An Overview

I am going to start posting a story I began to write for AP English in my Senior Year of High school. I will post the first few parts every few days and then I will post the rest of them as I write them. I can't promise a steady update schedule, but I will update them when I can.

Mexicali 08

Well it appears that I lied to you guys when I said I was going to update my blog. Though apparently now is a good time since I have just gotten back from a Mission trip to Mexicali Mexico.

To start off I would like to say thank you to my friends and family who prayed for me while I was down there and I would also like to give a shout out to everyone who went down, especially the Spartans, without whom we would be sleeping without tents.

On Friday March 14, 2008, 786 teenagers and adults left on the mission trip of a life time. 1 Drama team, 1 sports team, 6 Festival teams, 15 Construction teams building 14 houses, and 30 VBS teams. All going down there to help the needy people of Mexicali. Most of the people that went gave up there spring breaks or work in order to go down there.

The first two days were all traveling down to Mexicali. For those of you who have never driven down I-5 in California let me warn you. Bring something to do if you are going south towards Mexico or North towards Sacramento. It is the second most boring drive in the entire world. It is second only to driving the Nevada Salt Flats.

After getting down to Mexicali some of us had to wait for our luggage to come down on the box trucks. I personally had my suitcase but not my cot or my lawn car. When everyone had got there stuff and got situated in their tents (think the set of M*A*S*H without the comedy) we had dinner and chapel.

The theme of the week was Collide and the theme verse was Ephesians 4:16. So all this week the devotions and the chapels at night were about the body of Christ coming together and colliding.

The speaker of the week was a guy named Donny Burleson. He was amazing. Every night he had something that would keep your attention to the stage. The worship was exceptional. The worship team from the Sr. High services at my church were the ones that led worship.

The weather the first few nights was really miserable. You would think that down in Mexico it would be warm wouldn't you? Well the first few nights the wind was whipping through so much that it pierced every layer of clothing. During the day the weather was somewhat warm but not unbearable. The last few days it was getting somewhat hot, but it was livable.

The church my team went to was a poor church. Their building was just a concrete rectangle with a roof on it. The kids were so glad to see us though, and after everyday they would run after our car and try to get on.

The theme of the week was heroes of the bible. The first day we did Jesus walking on water, but lost the kids attention because we did it in English and then in Spanish. Also on the first day we had the Drama team come to our site. It was their first site and some things went wrong, but the plays they did were really good.

On the second day we did the story of Noah and we were able to keep the kids attention better cause we just had the translator say the story. We did a craft with the kids that involved making a ark full of animals. That day we had the Barnabas team come and give us a break and then we one of the festival teams come and set up a jump house and play with the kids.

On the third day we did another puppet show with the kids telling the story of Joshua. After we did the puppet show we did a game with the kids where they decorated a party hat to make it a trumpet then they walked around a wall of paper for each of the days and then tore the paper.

On the fourth day we reenacted David& Goliath. After that we had Festival come that day and play with the kids.

On Thursday it was the last day and we did a play on the story of Mary. After that the kids made medals to represent heroes. At lunch the people of the church put on a fiesta for us with food, a pinata, and an easter egg hunt. Thursday was the last day so most of the people were emotional throughout.

On Friday we had to load the luggage into big box trucks and help tear down the tents. Now let me tell you, those tents are heavy. After everything was loaded and the tents were torn down we were able to leave. We drove up to the University of Redlands to shower and for dinner their. We then stayed the night at a church that we had stayed at on the way down.

On Saturday we traveled from Redlands to Sacramento going up I-5. I must say that drive is one of the most boring drives in all of humanity. Nothing but hills and farmland. When we got back I was able to go home for a little bit and eat before I went to the easter service at my church. That service was the one where they officially welcomed the people who came back from Mexicali. It was a great service. Pastor Ray gave a great sermon, and the worship team did one of the best worship sets ever.

So there you have it my trip to Mexicali last week.

First Time!

Whoo hoo! My first time posting. I will try to update this regularly, but don't count on it. I will compose my first one on a actual topic tomorrow or Saturday.
